Looking for some 340 loads that have worked for you.
Mainly interested in 210 and 225 bullets.

TY!

Fotis,

I don't have a .340 Bee but I have 2 338 Baer's which are nearly the same thing without the freebore. In mine I shoot R-22, 7828, VV-165, and H-1000. 7828 and H-1000 are slightly more accurate and I think H-1000 gave the best velocity with 250's. I'm pretty sure I used 7828 with the 200gr BT's and 215 Sierrra's. My loads might be light for a Bee because of the freebore but I'll look tonight at what they were.

Fotis, do you have a picture of your 340? What did you scope it with?

Fotis,

Take a look at hte 250 gr AB, BC is .575. You should get to 2900 fps making it a long range hammer.

She got a 4.5x14 for now.......or a 2x7 or a 3x9 VXR or a 1.5x5 etc. I have the QRW mounts on all the bees so they can share........

Hello again Fotis,Here is a recipe I came up with a couple years ago-215m primer,86.5gr 7828,225accubond,3.627 col. Shoots MOA out of a old fibermark.

Very nice rifle Fotis. Looks like a champion of a rifle and a work horse! That black on black looks sweet. Looking forward to seeing how it shoots.

My load was : 88 grains of IMR7828 / resized 8mm Mag brass (RP)/ cci250 primers/ Hornady 225 Interlock. Shot well under an inch with all loads, but this one went 3100 plus. Mine was just like yours and I always wanted to master the recoil, I had lots of forehead marks from the scope! Be sure to get a long eye relief scope or put a brake on it! I loved mine, good luck with your new toy!

Stick with IMR7828, H1000, RL-22 and MRP is outstanding but harder to come by. These were oustanding powders in my 340Wby for different bullets I tried. Q/L will keep you in the ball part with these powders and a Mark V rifle. Good luck

Fotis, the loads that I use for Partition bullets are:
-210 grain Partition-83.0 grains of IMR 4350, 3100 fps, Norma brass, Fed 215Mag Match primer.
-225 grain Partition-87.0 grains IMR 7828 SSC, 3080 fps, Norma brass, Fed 215 Mag Match.

I shot 85gr of R-22 and a 215gr Sierra and 90grs of H-1000 with a 215 Sierra in my Baer's. 88grs of H-1000 with a 250gr Sierra has shot .195" for 3 shots in my Schneider barreled 338 Baer.

IDCTD, can you put up some pics of the Baer round against other Wby's?

Fotis, have you got the 340 sighted in yet? Man, do I gotta come out there to help you out? I know you have enough to keep us busy for a week!

Scotty,

Here is a .300 Weatherby case, my .30-8mm, and my .338 Baer.

The Baer cases are neat but after having done them many years ago I'm into the simple 8mm mag based cases. They are easier to reload, you don't need to fireform, and there is no real difference in capacity/velocity/accuracy. I think Bruce Baer built them to be different and name his own case just like many other smiths. For the most part the same can be said of the .358 STA cases. The STA case does get a little more velocity but not enough to buy custom dies for it and fireforming cases. BTW a .300 Jarrett is a .30-.358STA. The .30-.358STA with a long barrel will easily do over 4000fps with a 125BT.

For my .30-8mm I use a 8mm Mag FL die that's gutted to FL size when I need to and a Hornady neck sizing die when I need to. I true the necks by neck turning and it gives me a .335" loaded round in a .337 neck size in the chamber. For several firings I can stuff a bullet right back in the case with enough neck tension because of brass spring back. So I just pop the primers out, put in a new primer, fill with powder, and seat the bullet without sizing of any kind.

Thanks. Those pictures are pretty excellent. Anyway you shake it, it is alot of powder!

I am thinking my big bore rifle for my safe will end up being a 416RM... I like that big RM case.

The 340 Wby. load I finaly settled on was:
225 gr. Nosler A/B 89 grs. RL22 CCI 250 Primer 2.825" CL 3.7" OAL 3140 FPS. It's an Alaskan with a Sporter stock. I didn't like the looks or feel of the synthetic.View attachment 340 Wby 045.JPG
Good Luck
Greg

Greg, it must be: great minds think alike. This is an Mark V, .340 Alaskan with a Eurosporter stock on it. Fits better, shoots better and greater accuracy than the Tupperware Fibermark stock on my .340.
