Just aquired a Weatherby Accumark in 340 WBY and plan on using 210gr and 225gr Part in it?

Any load suggestions using H4831 and RL 22?

Thanks

Jeff,

Congratulations on the 340 Wby. A nice step up in power over the 338 Win Mag. Do a search as bullet did quite a bit of load development with a 340 Wby.
You should get close to 3200 fps with the 210 gr PT and 3100 fps with the 225 gr PT. Also take a look at the 250 gr bullets, with a high SD and BC, the offer some serious penetration and long range performance.

Thanks POP for the info

Yes I have been doing some researching most published data is very much on the consertive side. But appears IMR 7828 and H4831 are the powders I will go with.

I already have some 225gr Hornady Interbonds..............and a fresh pound of H4831.

Had a hunter here at the house the other night from Minnisota that had several pounds of H4831 in brown paper.......and still good he said. Wish he had brought it with him!

I don't why I went and bought a 340 Accumark since my 338 Win has served me so well, but I like the rifle. Just wish they made it in 338 Win mag.

The 340 Wby is just more of a good thing. I am sure you are going to like all the raw horsepower.

I was playing with my 340 fibermark today, early version of the accumark I think. 82gr rl22 or 86.5 gr imr7828-you can cover 3 shot groups with a quarter.Thats with the 250 AccuBond. The last two years I've used the 225 AccuBond,it puts elk down hard.I love this rifle.I put a vx3l 4.5x14 x56 with the b&c recitle on it a few months ago.Got it sighted in ready to go.I'm going across the bridge to Washington state Sat.a.m. Then the following Sat. its 1st season here in Orygun.I'm counting the minutes.

Man, that 340 is really something. I have always wanted one of the bigger .338's. I like the 340 alot, just for the fact it looks pretty strong with its big shoulders and a 250 on top. If I ever shot the barrel out of my 338WM, it would probably become a 340 or maybe a 338UM... Either way, good luck with it. Hard to go wrong with 250's at 2900+! That is a killer load anywhere. Thanks for all the info RL 22 performed excellent in the 340 wby. The accumark is a real shooter after i had it bedded.

Now I working with a 338 Lapua Rem 700 I should be able to get 3000 Fps with the 250s AB and 3100 fps with 225gr AB in the Lapua

I noticed the 338 lapua in Nosler Factory loads are underloaded.

Speaking of raw power. I shot a 60ibs roebuck in Sweden here the other day. I shot it straight foreward and the bullets went complete lenghthwise through the animal. The bullet was a Swift A-frame. The rifle was my Ritterbusch .378Wea. The range was 30 yards.
I can say I have been there, done it and there was no T-shirt afterwards. I will not do it again.

I used the old Weatherby data on the chart that Fotis was so kind as to show. My velocities with IMR 7828 SSC matched or exceeded the chart in my 26 inch Mark V.

I have used the 90 gr. load of 7828 with the 210 PT for elk, bear and other stuff. Very good, accurate, load in the Wby. .340.

I wonder where that ol' Wby is now,

Aaaahhh...I love the old IMR sheet from many years ago...back when reloaders were men....and lawyers didn't matter!
