I just got a bag of 35 cal 225 gr ABs from SPS and plan on doing some load development for my 700 Classic 35 Whelen.
I have loaded in the past for the Whelen using AA2015BR and IMR4064
with very good accuracy. Now its time to start load development with some different powders.
What are you guys loading for your 35 Whelens?

Thanks for your help.

Try Hodgdon BL-C2 take your loads right from thier manual or web site. The Whelen has been easy to laod for giving good results with RL15, Win 748, !MR 4895, AA2460 and maybe a couple of others I've forgotten.

My load development dates back to 1988-1990 time frame. I have a 700 Classic from 1988.
I am leaning towards RL15 for the 225 gr AB. I am planning on taking the 35 Whelen out of retirement this fall. ( Been hunting with a 280 Rem, 338 RUM and 280 AI).
Thanks for the help.

When I had my 7600 Remington I used 60 gr RL15 with the 225 BT. man what a tackdriving load. 2700 fps and nobody would believe it was from a pump gun!!!!!

in my custom mauser, varget was the best powder. (varget is my powder of choice for most cartridges) if i remember correctly, 55-56 grains behind a 225 bt or now the new ab.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try both RL15 and Varget.

Pop,

A 225 gr AB at 2700 fps would make this load a solid 300-350 yd hammer!
That would be fun!

My Rem 7600 really likes the IMR 4320 and 250gr Speer Spitzers.

I have heard of good results with Reloader 15 also.

Even more of a hammer now with the AB's.
