Been doing some shooting with my little Browning BLR 358 Win on the weekend and have been finalising some loads featuring IMR 3031 and the 180 gr Speer and 200 gr Sierra RN. I plan on trying to get some deer or bears with those bullets this year and looking forward to it.

Anyone try the 180 gr TTSX in the 358 Win? This gun has a real preference for flat base bullets so far and those Barnes bullets are very interesting. I have a lot more faith in the TTSX design opening up better than the TSX version so would like to stick with them. probably will try them this summer sometime.

I'll bet those would be an excellent bullet in that rifle, Gerry. Funnily enough, I never tried them. I did work up a variety of loads with the 200 grain TSX, and they all shot very well for me. The 180 grain TTSX would likely prove to be a winner.

In my one and only BLR .358 I could not load the 200 TTSX due to the magazine length. The mouth of the case was above the ogive. The 200 TSX worked swell. Now, I dodn't know if the 180 TTSX is longer from ogive to tip. It would be nice if you could get a few to try w/o buying a whole box. Just saying. I am one of those that thinks lwt monos in .33 and up kill a tad better than the same weight in a smaller caliber. Anyhow, a 180 Mono just "has" to be wicked! :)

I couldn't remember if that had a 20 or 22" barrel.
Maybe this will help at least with a powder choice.

I am using the 180 TTSX outta my 350 Rem Mag. So far it is unused but it'll get pulled out for deer this year I believe. Accurate bullet and I use it at 2875 from my little M600.

Thanks to everyone, it looks to be a great choice for the 358 Win. Would love to see what that bullet would do on game at 350 RM speeds Scotty.

I loaded up some dummy rounds featuring the 200 gr TTSX and they would have worked just fine in my BLR. It does take up a lot of case capacity though being such a long bullet. I would bet that the 180's will be a hammer on game 8)

I was with a bloke when he shot a scrub bull through the shoulders broadside with the 200g X Bullet out of his BLR 358W.

I’ve never seen an animal drop more quickly - like lightning hit him. As far as I could tell that bullet could still be going.

Pretty amazing on a 500kg+ animal.

That is a pretty good recommendation for the 200 grain X bullet. I shot 200 grain TSX our of the .358, getting fine accuracy and good velocity. I was comfortable shooting that bullet when stalking moose and elk.

While I have my doubts it probably is unfounded this does sound good so I may try this after all sometime this summer. I had a regular 250 gr X bullet from a 375 Ruger fail to open once on a bear and it soured me on them. The TTSX is an improvement over the older bullets. I would expect those 200's to penetrate deeply on bear in case of an emergency Should beat the 180 gr version in that regard somewhat. The BLR is the camping gun among other things and since DrMike has had excellent accuracy in this gun in the past with it it makes the most sense to give it a try.
