Headed out to the range this morning, had several officers signed up to come out and shoot. Paused to take this photo, sunrise on the Columbia River:
Got to the range, a bit chilly this morning. A couple of officers came out and qualified with their .40's & .45's, then there was a lull in business, so I hauled out a couple of my toys. Sadly the .30-30 decided to stop extracting shells from the chamber after a few rounds. I'll need to address that issue. Single shots are great - but I'd really like for this rifle to continue life as a repeater!
The .44 revolver however was working great. Loaded it up with 240 grain factory ammo (PMC in this case) and fired our qualification course. The only parts of the course that gave me any real trouble are a couple of portions where I have to shoot one-hand/weak-hand rapid fire with the pistol. That's a piece of cake with a .45 semi-auto, but a little tougher with the .44 revolver.
Not a perfect score/target, but not bad for a chilly morning and a .44 magnum, a 294/300:
Got several other shooters through the qual course, buttoned things up and headed for home and a warm nap.
