6.5 CM Nosler 140 CC Bullet

I tried the 147 grain ELD-M Hornady ammo the other day at horse ridge and it was not nearly as accurate as the plain jane 140 grain BTHP American Gunner bulk ammo. It shot only 1/2 inch low at 100 but was twice group size. (1 x 2 inches at 200 vs 3/4 x 1 inch). I did not chronograph yet or shoot past 200 yards but I am thinking it needs more rotational velocity. RL 26 can do that though I may need a muzzle brake on my little Tikka to observe bullet impacts!

I calculated recoil for some of the loads we have been discussing and other popular alternatives. 9.5 pound rifle Tikka CTR. (Foot pounds rounded up).

130 grain hybrid, 39.5 gr Varget, 2850 fps, 10.7 foot pounds, 8.5 recoil velocity.

140 BTHP American Gunner ammo. 140 gr, 42.2 grains H4350 or something like it, 2,700 fps, 11.5 ft pounds, 8.8 recoil velocity.

140 ELD-M, 41.3 RL17, 2750 fps, 11.6 foot pounds, 8,9 recoil velocity.

147 ELD-M, 41.8 RL16, 2754 fps, 12.6 foot pounds, 9.2 recoil velocity.

143 ELD-X, 41.4 RL16, 2742 fpsw, 12.9 foot pounds,

140 ELD-M, 47.7 RL26, 2874 fps, 13.7 foot pounds, 9.6 recoil velocity.

147 ELD-M, 47.2 RL26, 2819 fps, 14.1 foot pounds, 9.8 recoil velocity.

147 ELD-M, 48.2 RL26, 2883 fps, 14.75 foot pounds, 10 recoil velocity.

How do you figure out the recoil and temps of powders? I just started today working up a load and used reloader 17 and H4350. 39-41 grains of H4350 and 40-42 of reloader 17.

Welcome to the forum, the AccuBond bullets especially the 130 gr are favourites of mine in the 260 Rem and will be equally as good in the 6.5 Creedmoor. Shot 4 deer again with them this fall and was pleased as always.

Bob, Im glad to see someone using the AccuBond. Looks like one anyway. Let us know how it does.

There are many online calculators for recoil. This is a good one.

I'm often on jbm ballistics too, great resource for shooters.

Yea they are accubonds. I run them in my .308 as well. 165’s there. I’ve never had a deer move more than 5 feet after hitting it with an AccuBond. My local gun shop is ordering me some AccuBond LR 140’s to try.
