Well, I think I got my 6mm BR dialed in where I want it. I have been only working with RL-15 powder (availibity and $$ Varget has gotten outta hand). And I have been very pleased. Actually peachy flippin keen pleased. And pleased enough to go buy another 5#'r of that lot#.
I have been testing some custom 77gr bullets for an aquaintance and they are shooters for sure. I think the worst groups I shot with them were .560 and that was initial testing of them. I sent him a copy of the initial targets and he said they can do do better. I messed around with the seating depth and this is was I ended up with. I am running at an avg of 3175fps with an avg ES of 14.
Conditions were pretty good for ND wx. OAT 72*, winds 6:00 switching to 9:00 at 6mph with gust to 10. All 5 shots groups. I like these little beautiful bullets. I am gonna refrain from mentioning where I got em as the guy only has 1200 jackets left and I want them for my greedy old self.
Regarding the rifle, I cannot sing enough praise about the SSG 10* V-port brake. Unlike any other brake as I swear it really isnt any louder than a normal report, no concussion felt as one does with other styles and the rifle just dont move. Desert Fox can back me up on that brake. Yeah the 17 lb weight has something to do with the rifle not moving. But man what a peaceful easy shooting braked rifle. Any interest in the brake, I have two sources to point you to, PM if interested.
Now I just got to get to working on some 105 Nosler Comp bullets so I can reach out and touch skippies distant cousins...
But I gotta get on big blue, been having a trying time dialing that in... But have been experiancing a few equipment gremlins, too embarassing to mention at this time. Well it is embarrasing when your barrel comes loose and then your scope mounts loosen up and you didnt think you would need your tool box so you left it at home... And then your zero is off...
Big Red: 6mmBR home built on a 700SA and a big ol Kreiger. DAng what a great cartridge....
Later guys..
