Hey all, I decided on buying some 175g gamekings for my 7mm RM. Hopefully they'll shoot alright. Anyone shoot these? I'm hoping for 2850-2900fps out of my 24" tube along with .5" accuracy. I have RL-22 and Retumbo right now. My rifle is currently getting a holland brake so will be working up these bullets when I get it back. Elk season starts nov. 4th. I dont have to much time to work up a load and get a good drop chart, so I hope I find a good load on the 1st trip out.

Remingtonman,

RL22 and Retumbo should get you the results you are looking for.

Why the brake? Are you trying to see impacts through the scope?
I am sure you will get the rifle back and work up a load with time to spare.
Good luck on the elk hunt.

JD- The only reason I am getting the brake is to see my own impacts. You are correct. I didn't put a brake on my 300 RUM, so it seems kinda funny to put one on a 7 RM. The kick dont bother me, its just that I miss having no recoil at all and being able to look through your scope and see your impacts is kinda cool. One of the main reasons I didn't put it on my 300 RUM though was barrel life. I felt it was a waste of money. I have more then double the barrel life so I feel like its money well spent. I kinda dont like them though since there so damn loud, and I'm always forgetting ear muffs/plugs. I already have a little bit of hearing damage in my right ear from my braked 25-06 I had about 4 years back. I dont even know how many times I shot that w/out any protection. Let me tell you sometimes I thought my head was gonna explode and my ears were gonna bleed. I think I'll start with 60g RL-22 and about 65g Retumbo and see where that gets me. I cant wait to get it back and see how it shoots with the brake.

Remingtonman,
I would be very curious to see how your 175 grainers shoot and work on elk! I just picked up that 7mm RUM and I want to try some 175 grain partitions and see how they do, I might try the gameking version as well, although I have some doubt about how they would hold up when pushed at 7RUM velocities!

I used them years ago.......the 160 Sierra Gameking in HPBT is a tougher bullet than the 175 GK.......settled on IMR 4350 @ 61.0 with the 160 gr.

I have shot moose and caribou with the 160 HPBT GK and worked great. The New 160 AB looks good also!
