What velocity are you guys getting with 140-160 gr bullets? Any loads would be great.
I have heard/read some loaders getting 3400 fps with 150's and 3600 with 140's.

Can this be safely done?

Jim I had a 7mm STW years ago. It was a Sendero.
140 NBT's with 80 gr of 7828 gave me 3502 fps on the nose! Accuracy was 1.25" at 300 yards---on average for Brad and I.

So with xx more grains of powder capacity of the rum....who knows?
Just never seen it "written" on a trusted source......

I have owned 3 diff 7RM's in the past & was really into 7mm. I know of several people who own custom 7STW's, they were really promoted by a local gunsmith. Several of these guys get velocities with the 140 in the area that POP mentioned. I do not see from reliable sources much of a gain over this with the 7RUM, I wonder if the case is a little much for a big boost with a 140 over the STW. It may start pulling away with the 160, but I feel a fast twist barrel & 200gr. Wildcats or bullets over 180gr. is where the round would start to kick butt. Just my thoughts.

It does pull away with the 160's. I got 3305 with the 160 AB's and retumbo.

Very impressive guys.
Should shoot flatter than road kill.

Hey Pop, I've been playing with a 7rum also useing retumbo. Stopped at 92 grs as groups were 3/8 with three shots shooting 160 partitions but without a crony I had to guess the FPS at 3100 .

Pop,

Get them both.........

264 Win Mag in CDL for deer,

7mmRUM in a Sendero for the long stuff.

JD338

Nope...I already downsized. I want to stay with 3 Big game guns.

I now have the
SAKO TRGS 30-378
WBY 416 Mag MKV

and whatever "smaller" caliber for occasional coyote(rarely), and mainly deer and antelope. Hence the dilemma!

264 or 7mm rum

Sendero or sporter????????????????????????????????????????????

Vote #1 for the Sendero

POP....what is the difference in a TRG & TRG(S) ?
I looked long and hard at the TRG in .338lapua Mag, but couldn't ever find one to put my hands on first.

I believe the TRG-S is the sporter configuration.

POP,

Awesome looking gun ( after I had to look it up )
How well does it shoot? I'm sure if it's one of the rounds your keeping it shoots "very" well ??

Quoted from a post I made on the Wby forum.

Ok, so I just bought one of the last SAKO TRGS left in 30-378.
So I loaded her up with 200 grain Accubonds and 109 gr Retumbo.

Velocity is 3250 fps this is a 100 yard 4 shot group.

Easy if the rifle is up to par.
