Do you know what kind of powder you are looking to use in it? Because some powders give more speed and some give more powder. but my reloading book says for a 140 grain bullet you can use IMR7828 and you can use 73.2 grains is the starting and the maximum is 79.5 grains but you have to work your way up and use only large rifle at first. But start with the low grain to weather your gun in first. For the 160 the best speed is with the RELOADER 25 the lowest grain is 72.5 and the maximun is 79. If you have any questions feel free to email me at sniperspyder91@hotmail.com

where are you getting your information from that is what I would love to find. Info on rreloadin the AccuBond bullets for the stw.

And if you wanted i could give you all the loads for each of the bullets my book tells me.

that would be great if you would do that. I f it is not a problem or take to much time.

Thanks

I had one set up for long range antelope only. 80 gr 7828 with fed 215 cap and 140 BT. It did 3500 fps as shot as flat as Kansas. Groups were 1.5 inches at 300 yards.

My STW loves a 160 AB over 80 gr. of Retumbo...if i were you i would start at 75 gr. and move up from there.

What is your speed?

Darn. My RUM is getting 3205 fps but I am not at all hotrodding it. Groups hover in the 1/2" range with 3 shots.

I know it sounds wierd but i think the barrel is "fast"...how many grs of powder are you using? My brother and i have a couple of rifles with shilen barrels and they seem to produce more speed than stock barrels. for example my bro has a 264 winchester that spits 140 gr pills at 3500 with a load of 7828 that is within published data. i about fell over when he told me what his chrony was reporting. I too get really good groups with the STW...in the 1/2" range. I figured i would get about 3200 with the 27" tube but turned out it was faster than that...go figure

Dude! I have played with many 264 and I can tell you one thing. 140 gr at 3500 fps is NOT NORMAL... not even for a 6.5mm STW never mind a 264 Win mag. That chamber must be tight as you know what.

No such thing as a free lunch!

Anyway back to my 7 RUM I am using 94 gr of Retumbo.

i actually had that rifle built for my bro and i specified a minimum dimension chamber and 27" of barrel...the same as i did with my STW...i know that speed is crazy...just blows me away...you want to hear another funny thing...with both the 264 and STW we still have yet to trim a case...i've got some cases with 6 reloads on them and still well under the max case length.

I use 77 grains of IMR 7828 for a 150 grain NP in my STW.Flat shooting and accurate.
