THINKING ABOUT A PROJECT_ 7MM\375RUGER_
NEED SOME HELP.
WOULD USE A 40 DEGREE SHOULDER, WITH THE LONGEST POSSIBLE NECK.
WHAT WOULD BE THE APROX. BALLISTICS WITH THIS WILDCAT.
HAS THERE BEEN SOMETHING EQUAL ON THE PAST?
WOULD FIT ON A STANDARD ACTION?
HELP NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU.

I can't tell you the ballistics, but it would fit in a standard action, as long as you keep the length trimmed (it will lengthen a bit with the necking down process). I suspect you won't find it to be a great advantage over the existing stuff, other than the standard action fit versus magnum action. I read a little something on the 375Ruger the other day, and it apparently doesn't live up to Hornady's claims of besting the H&H out of a 20" barrel. I am not surprised. It does best the H&H if shot out of a 24" barrel, but only by a slight amount, if I remember correctly. I am not looking at the data right now. Remember that you cannot get something for nothing, no matter what the marketing guys say.

I Know you cannot get something for free, Ive used on the past a 280 AI and a 7mm stw, Im thinking in the 7mm-375R as a 280AI, very good case capacity and eficiency, for sure is hard to compare the old 375hh to the 375r but for sure with the new powders on the market we are talking about the same, i wouldnt change my 375hh for the 375r as wouldnt let go my 3006.
For sure its a nice base to start a new wildcat, with good barrel lenght I think it would be on the same league as the 7mmSTW.
Im looking forward on makeing one on the near future.

I hear you on that. I think it would be a great idea, but I don't think it would break any new ballistic ground, other than to be a standard length cartridge that will very likely do what some magnum length cartridges do, kind of analogous to, but a step up from, how the 7mmWSM compares to the standard length magnum cartridges. I'd like to hear how it turns out. I just didn't want people believing the crap Hornady and Ruger are advertising about their 375R - that is bests the 375H&H out of the 20" barrel model. Real shooting evidence shows the contrary.

Just as an update, I looked over the data earlier today from that article about the 375R. The case has 6% more capacity than the 375H&H, and the velocity increases seen at the range (with handloads and factory ammo) were on the order of 3.25%. Recoil was about 3.25% higher with the Ruger, as well. I suspect this is a realistic expectation for the cartridge as a whole, and reflects on it's suitability (and relative comparability to existing cartridges) in terms of necking down for wildcatting purposes.
