Got some from the brown truck today and got my testing done if I make it up to my last round with good signs I will try to jug it.

Oh man! Jake, those look GOOD buddy! I can't wait to load them up in the boys 243.. Should be a first class deer fetcher for sure! Hope they shoot as well as the other AB's do.

Jake,
What data are you starting from? I'll get mine tomorrow and I want to try them in my 6-284 first then the 243s. I want to try the 4831s, IMR4350 and RL22 - How about you?

Scott

I'm on this train too...I think H4831SC will be the first powder I try. I've got Ramshot Magnum and Hunter both on the shelf should I get the idea I need either a faster or slower burning powder. My bullets get here tomorrow.

I've prepped some new brass from Norma 6.5x284 and have no idea what the water capacity is, I don't have a fired case yet. I have QL and will run data for you guys if you can come up with water capacities, OALs, and such.

I was gonna use 4350 but I've been thinking quite a bit and I haven't been able to come close to case capacity with 4350 and 95 or 100 grainers so I had the good doctor work me up so QL data with 4350 and 7828 SSC and I'm gonna see if I can't get the 7828 to work. It's almost at capacity with it. Plus I'll pick up around 200 fps according to QL. Maybe I'll get the last one caught at around 3500. That will be a brutal test.

Looking forward to your testing report Jake.
I really hope Nosler considers making a heavier weight however.
I'm just a bit heavier for caliber type of guy, more so as the caliber gets smaller.
But like Scotty in similar thoughts, I will likely load some up in the .243 for eventual use by the grandaughter.
May give them a run in the 6mmAI in XP as well, just to see.

Those are turning me on a bit! I'm leaning hard to the 6-284 on my savage here in the next year or so. I might have to grab me a bag of those 90 gr ABs! Keep us posted on how they shoot, and do on a jug test!

Jake,
I've been shooting 54gr of RL22 under a 95gr Berger. It is a compressed load but I get 3400fps out of it. I'm pretty sure the AccuBond will give me more case capacity. I'm going to start at 48gr and work up from there. My Sierra manual lists 51.5gr as max for their 85gr HBPT and 47.8gr for their 100gr SBT. Should be able to hit 3400fps out of my 26" barrel. Then I'll try H4831sc and I also have some 7828ssc. Good luck! Talk to you later.

Scott

Jake,

Jug one buddy, you will be the first!
It will be a big hit here, I promise.

Man, that 6-284 seems like a pretty cool round too! Looking forward to seeing what the 90 AB does when hitting jugs at 3400! That should be a show!

My Hornady manual lists RL-22 max with 95-100 as 48.6 gr. I don't trust the hodgden site had an expirence which I'm not sure weather it was a true pressure issue or a bad piece of brass but needless to say I won't be going back down that road.

Well my pressure testing went well and I managed to catch one at 3500+. I ran my test starting at 48 gr of IMR-7828 SSC in increments of .5 gr up to 56. At 56 I started seeing signs of pressure. So I loaded up 54.5, 55, & 55.5 gr for accuracy testing and that didn't go well I'm gonna try again on my next days off.

Jake,
My 6mm accubonds are AWOL. They should have been here yesterday but still haven't arrived. I am ready for them - 50 cases prepped & primed, powder in stock and MILK JUGS STOCKPILED. I'll be shooting this weekend..... I hope. What is your OAL? I'm thinking your longer than 2.86". Thanks for sharing the data you've got - I'll do likewise.

Scott

Scott,

I believe I'm at 2.899" COAL and I'm seated into the shoulder if I remember right I'll try and post a picture if I can find it. With the 70BT I ran for 40-54 gr of 4350 and I'm thinking I could go just a touch more but I'm right there on the pressure curve. If I find the picture I'll post it. I'll PM the data Mike gave me.

I may just have to have get something built on that round!!!

This one is built on a VZ-24 Brno. The barrel is production stamped 12/31/69. I would definately go with a LA and a custom throat on it. That way you can pick a couple bullets to base your rifle off. That's just my thoughts.

Will be posting some numbers and photos up in the next day or so. Got my new chrony today. Will be shooting groups with 54-55.5 gr of 7828 SSC. Hopefully I will have something good to post. Maybe another jug test too.

I have shot the 90-grain Accubonds twice in my 6mm-284, and it has not gone well.

Now, I have had this rifle a couple of months. I was given a handful of Winchester brass with the rifle and using that brass I was able to get encouraging results with the 95-grain Partition, most everything was around MOA and I think I had a good starting point to develop a good load.

When the Accubonds appeared I ordered some and decided to lay in some better brass too, so I ordered some Norma 6.5mm-284 cases and necked them down, then annealed.

The first time out with the new brass and the Accubonds I was shooting pairs, mainly to see where the pressure and velocity limit is. There were no signs of excess even at the top charge of Ramshot Magnum, which was 62.4 grains which yielded about 3470 fps. No potentially accurate loads appeared during this outing---bullets were flying all over the place! I began to think I had a bad scope.

I loaded up some of the more moderate charges, from 59.7 to 60.6 grains of Magnum and put a different scope on the rifle. I shot groups of three. I was really hoping to be reporting that the scope I had on the rifle at first had gone south, but such is not the case. Nothing shot anywhere near MOA.

I am still pondering my next move. I may go back to my data on the 95-grain Partition and see if the best charge during those trials will respond to seating depth, and whether the rifle really does shoot as well as I thought it did 34 rounds ago. Another option I am weighing is to shoot some Accubonds driven by H4831SC instead of Magnum, and if that works out I would consider trying some H1000.

All I know right now is that it is looking to me like the AccuBond will be a NO-GO in my 6mm-284 (still hoping that is not correct, however!). If that turns out to be correct, I am pretty sure I can just fall back on the 95-grain Partition and live happily ever after.
