Back from Alaska - more on the fishing trip elsewhere - but thought I'd share a few photos I snapped of the bears. All Alaskan brownies. Some had a distinct collar of light colored fur. No real monsters, one that looked pretty big. Weather made it tough to get decent photos. Was fighting wind and rain most of the time and using a little pocket camera.
I've got a couple of short videos too - kind of cool - have never uploaded to You Tube - but might have to give that a try later.
Beach bear with the "collar" of bright fur:
Hmmm. Guess we saw each other:
Just outside the cabin - I opened the door to take the photo. Looks like a young/small bear to me. Am guessing 400+ pounds though.
Through the cabin window:
Bear in the river while I was fishing:
They like the salmon too!
Sorry for the quality of the photos guys - never really could put it together and get a good photo of a bear. Too far. Too dark. Too windy. Too much rain to even pull out the camera. Had a couple of interesting very close encounters in the tall grass going to and from the river. Have fished this river off and on for 12 years or more now. Never saw so many bears as this year, not even close!
