Well this was not on my bucket list but I gave it a try ! It started yesterday at 3:45am when I arrived at gerry's home and then shortly after we started our journey with two friends of gerry's their names are Steve & David. We drove approximately a hour during which time we chatted and I got to know these fine gentlemen. Once we arrived at the start of our adventure we loaded our packs, the three much younger guys were carrying their rifles as well and off we went to find a Mountain Goat or two. gerry had mentioned a few times that it was going to be a short hike of around 3miles and it would not be very steep . Well we started and in a very short time I was questioning the definition of steep :? after a reaching the end of a logging or pipeline road I am not sure which, we started to ascend to the flat portion on top of the Mountain shortly there after I knew that I was not going to be able make the final climb but was happy were I was (y), (did I mention that the 3 much younger men) then continued up onto the plateau to glass and spot and I stayed behind eating wild Blueberries and marveled at God's majestic workmanship. I ate lunch and then it was time to return to the bottom which at I thought was going to be much easier . Oh did I mention the word STEEP, well after we maneuvering back down this (in the eyes of a flatlander very steep road) we made it back to our original starting point. We did manage to see a few goats on another mountain & I am sure that these lads are going to get a much closer look at them on another day.
I again want to THANK gerry for taking me on this adventure!
What a day it was so beautiful with fine fellowship and being in the presence of our Lord in his Mountains.
Last night I chatted with my children and my daughter asked how high were we and I mentioned to her that it was high enough that the mosquitoes were wearing Oxygen masks
I will attempt to put some photos on the post when I get back to the prairies.
PS. I have I mentioned the word STEEP .

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,

Goats choose the most inaccessible terrain imaginable to live. The successful goat hunter will be compelled to climb (you might want to use the word steep to describe where they live). Still, there is something wonderful about looking goats in the eye as they look at you quizzically, wondering what you are and how you got there. You could even use the word "steep" to describe the crags and towering peaks where they live. Glad you had opportunity to accompany Gerry and the gang on that climb, even if it was only part way.

Glad you had a great time! I was never much for steep even as a young man ( but I grew up 70ft above sea level!) I now find that I much prefer pick-ups, jeeps, and horses to "shanks mare", ha. Coming down was always harder for me than going up too! That was because I had worn my knees down to bone to bone before I was 30! I didn't get new ones until a few years ago. It ain't much better! ha That's because my lungs are the same with any knid of knee!

Great adventure Dan. The older I get the steeper the mountains get.

Still waiting for photos.

Well here is a photo or 2 (y)!

Blessings,
Dan

That is some steep country, Dan. From the picture, I'd say about an 88 degree climb.

Here is another . This was the final scale & unfortunately I could not do that last little portion :(.

Dan

Nice photos, Dan. Thanks for posting.

If you are using Photo Bucket you might be able to edit the photos there. But don't listen to me, I have trouble every time try to post pictures. Maybe someone else can give you more detailed instructions.

The 3 Lads that so graciously let me tag along!!
Great guys & I am wishing them all the best on this upcoming Goat hunt!!

Blessings,
Dan
