First, my son (15) and his friend (14) went to sit in a double tree stand last night. Once up in the stand his buddy was cycling the action on a Rem 788 and as he closed the bolt the gun fired! I bet both boys had to change their underware! He had it pointed up and away and cleanly killed a branch that fell into their lap. They took all the shells out of the gun and lowered it on the rope and sat the rest of the evening with just my son's 243. Better safe than sorry!!!
My wife and I on the way to the back side of the ridge saw Elk in our face as we came around a corner which got her all pumped up for the evening and then 10 minutes later about ran over a bull moose with a cow not 15 feet from us. She's a little afraid of the Moose due to their size and was freaking out a little.
Then to top it off while watching a small basin on the edge of a clearcut for deer to come out at dusk she spots a wolf and in her excitement/ fear she could hardly talk to tell me where in this vast new clearcut where it was. All she kept saying is "I DON'T WANT TO COME NEAR ME!!!". By the time she calmed down enough to get out of her where it was, it was gone. I have a Wolf tag so I was trying to scan the cut to find it, but no where to be seen. She has seen enough Coyotes dead and alive (Protecting her little dog with only a broom while two had it cornered in the back yard a few years ago) and with what she described I'm sure what she saw was a wolf.
So the score at the end of the evening is one dead coyote my son shot while it was chasing a doe past him.
All in all a great afternoon of hunting!
