Adjusting Winchester MOA trigger

Scotty, Attached are the two rifles (Mod 70, Mark V) and a open set of low TDS rings for comparison. The medium rings are aluminum and the low rings are steel. They also come in Stn Stl. The scopes shown are both 50mm objectives and use the medium rings. Let me know your thoughts. They come in both Weaver (W) or Picatinny mounts screws (.150 wide and 185 wide). The mounts shown are one Warne Picatinny and one Warne stl.

Tom, I am thinking you are well on your way to a great shooter, although, to be honest, I wasn't really expecting any less. The rifles are put together pretty well, in good stocks with good finish work. The only thing that could make it shoot bad would be a crap barrel. I think you are going to be impressed when you really start putting some AB's or PT's through it. Ready to head out West yet? Scotty

Heck yeah I am!

By the time 2013 comes around, I should have the 06 in a similar stock, have 'em both dialed in real nice, and be ready to thump some elk!

I tell ya, after shooting the new one today, I can't WAIT to get the '06 in that B&C stock!

Charlie- those look GREAT! Talk about a robust ring and base set up. I like those rings alot. I guess my question is are those TDS rings Leupolds or something else? Sorry, I haven't heard of them referred to as TDS but they look like MK4 rings? Sorry for the questions, but that mount and set up looks like something I wouldn't mind putting on my 300 Weatherby Vanguard.

Tom, while your at it, might as well put a 35 Whelen barrel on that M70! It would look slick with that new stock! Scotty

Scotty - I think those are the heaftier Warne rings. Great rings that work on Warne or any Pic base.

I've been having some success by heating a very fine flat screw driver in a candle flame and melting it.

You nailed it. A small butane torch also works well.

Congratulations on your rifle. I have two of them, and they are great.

Man, they look great. Seems like those could take just about amount of abuse you could ever dole out. Scotty

Third try on this post. Don't ever buy Windows 7 and put Explorer 9 on it, bad combination. It jams, disappears, locks, and erases posts.

These are Tactical Precision Systems (TPS) rings, model TDS rings. The mediums are .488 from base to scope, the low rings are .288 from base to scope. I bought the first set from Midway (the "W" style for Weaver mounts) were being discontinued at Midway only. They were half price. The others I found on SWFA and on Brownell's Police site. They were about $80 or half what Leupold's cost for what seems to be the same quality. Quaranteed 0.0015 TIR on axis, ring to ring, and concentric bores within 0.0005. I bought the mediums for the 50mm objective scopes and wanted lower than Leupold high but higher than medium. The low rings will hold a 42mm objective scope.

They come is Stn Stl, Aluminum and Steel (cost varies to $105 from $70, depending on materials). I wanted some rings that would hold my Swarovski scope on my .340 Weatherby without any hassle with sliding, moving or losing zero. They are being made for the USMC Expeditionary Forces in Afganistan. If they will hold the .338 Lapua, they will hold the .340 Bee.

The cross bolts are hardened and torque to 65 inch pounds. I do not think that they will move. To me, beauty is in the functionality with these rings.

Google Chrome is your friend.

Oldtrader,

I've used Firefox (I'm running a Beta at the moment), Opera and Safari. All work smoothly to get me onto the site and posting quickly. When IE9 was first released, it worked smoothly and quickly. It wasn't clunky as had been IE8. Mine still works well, but any of the others named are faster.

I have Chrome, Firefox, and IE9 on my machine, running Windows Vista SP2. I can honestly say IE9 is what I use the most, although some websites choke on it and I use Firefox for them. It's comparatively few, though.

Biggest issue I had with IE9 was that I had to do it to try to alleviate a problem I was having, and I didn't tell my wife beforehand that I was bumping it up to IE9. She was a little surprised, to say the least, at the change in Internet Explorer!

Charlie, they look STRONG. I really like that set up. That is one part of the weapons systems that really takes alot of abuse. Their using heavy scopes and not being especially gentle with them. I really don't think most hunters could bear to treat their rifles as these rifles get beat around.

I had ordered a Weaver Tactical Rail and Leupold QRW rings from SWFA. Seeing as I have been on back order awhile, I mounted some medium one piece Talleys I had on the rifle. I am not really liking them. So I called SWFA and switched my order to Leupold Two piece bases and the PRW rings. Should make for a solid platform and handle the 300WBY. I will know in a few weeks. Scotty
