Both a good calibers.
The European 30-06, 7mm, has acquitted itself well through the years.
My hunting partner uses a 7mm Remington Magnum as his go to rifle, and has, for years.

My main rifle for the first 10 years after the Army was the Husqvarna Crown 3000 in 7mm Rem Mag. I bought it in 1963 and shot it out by 1972. In 1973, I bought a custom Mauser and have used it since for long distance deer. My main deer rifle now is the .270 Win Model 70 though.
