Well after a year of pretty dry results on all our normal hunting seasons,
my Dad purchased a left over private land cow tag. We are fortunate enough to be able to hunt several areaas after all the normal seasons are finished. I can't say these are difficult hunts, but rather putting meat in the freezer till next year.
The .260 and the 130gr AccuBond were made for each other ! ( again if one does his part )
It wasn't long after day light when we caught two cows, two calves and a yearling @ about 150 yrds. By the time Dad was able to get a shot they were @ 204yds. The crack of the .260 came a little quicker than what I expected, but looking through the Swaro's she didn't go down. As she calmly walked up the hill-side I could see the evidence start gushing and soon she layed down. Unfortunately the shot was higher and futher back than optimal and she stood back up. The second crack of the .260 went off with the infamous WHACK and that was that.... The second shot went through her shoulder and I found it against her spine. Bullet "dressed weight" = 76 grains.
Dad, Myself and my Son... excellent day !!!
