Antelope Hunt

Long story short.. Truck was broken into in Billings, Mt. All gear was stolen. Bought a Ruger 25-06 in Sheridan, Wy. Had 1 day to sight in. 100 grn Nosler BT's in a gail force wind. Zero confidence in this setup. 1st day out, buck at 426 yards in a very stout cross wind. 1 shot and he dropped like a rock. 2nd day out, wife shoots a buck with the same rifle. 271 yds, dropped like a rock. I shot 2 does, 1 at 320 yds and 1 at 280 yds. Both bang/flops. I was having so much fun I went and bought another buck tag. 3rd day, buck at 732 yards. What the heck...bang......................smack!, dropped like a rock. Went from zero confidence to "holy cow, I love this thing!" Great caliber and great hunt. I would post pictures but I'm TECHNO challenged. I've since searched this site for load info for next year. Oh yeah, I'm going back!

That would give a guy just a little bit of confidence in his rig for sure! Nice shooting.

Sorry to hear about the events that necessitated buying a new rifle, but it certainly sounds as if you hit the jackpot. I'm really glad it has worked out. The 25-06 is a great cartridge, but it sounds as if you did your part as well. Congratulations to you and your wife on the antelope.

I am sorry to hear of the problem you had but sometimes good things can come out of a bad situation.
It sounds like everything turned out okay.
Lots of guys on site can get your photos on line as I am not real sharp on the computer either but had lots of help.

Congrats on the gun! sorry for the reason you had to buy it. I was worried about that scenerio all the way from Tennessee to Idaho, and this comeing week I'll worry about it on the way back. Glad the hunt turned out to be memoriable.
