I can't seem to find any tests on the 150 Nosler Ballistic Tip.

I'll explain more later when I get my hands on the "new" toy.

Shot one deer with the 150 BT which was also the first loads for my new 280. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again, but last year I just had to try an E-tip.

The more recent version (not sure exactly when they were changed) is tougher than the original 150BT by a good bit. I first tried them back in the late 1980's and couldn't get them to stay together very well in a 7mag. A couple of years ago I used them again to kill a big 190" mule deer. It penetrated from just in front of the back hip, up through chest, and lodged under skin in off side shoulder. An impressive 3 ft of penetration from a 7mag running 3200'@ muzzle at 140 yards. They are very, very accurate as well IME.

Sorry guys. I posted this in the 308 bullet section, but I should've specified. Although with my name on here that was not far off! Lol

I love the 150 BT in my 7 mag. Took 3 deer with it last fall. Took one doe at 250 yards extreme downhill angle got a little wind on it and center punched the near side shoulder broke it clean in half and traveled on through out the offside shoulder but missed the hardest part of the offside shoulder. Second was a big buck and 250 yards center punched the spleen. Both dropped immediately and were dead before they knew they were hit.

Well, it sure didn't show up in the .308 section on my computer, so I wasn't sure.

At any rate, I haven't tried the BT's in 150 gr .308 dia. Went straight from my wonderful 165's down to 125's when I was coming up with a flat-shooting, light recoiling, accurate load for my friend Dani's .308 Win Sako. Whoo - Wee that load & rifle shoots well when the young lady is giving it a good try! The little 125 did a fine job, took down a nice, fat whitetail buck, and the bullet stopped right under the skin on the off-side. Instant drop. Like INSTANT! We were both happy.

On the other hand, my 165's simply blow right on through. Oh, they expand all right, but the deer can't keep them inside. The bullets exit, usually with a pretty doggone big exit wound.

I'm sure the 150 .30 cal BT's performance is somewhere in between those two... Maybe a little more dynamic than the 165's, because velocity will be higher... I'd bet it will be a dynamite deer/pronghorn bullet. All the Ballistic Tips I've used have been very accurate.

Regards, Guy

I have used 150 gr BT's in 308, 30/06 and 7mm Mags with great success on deer. I can only recall losing 2 deer in my whole life using these bullets (over 100 kills). I get complete penetration on broadside shots about 60-70% of the time except for close shots 50 yards and under. While I do not have any recovered bullet pictures to show, I can say that I have used them with complete and utter satisfaction.
