I dropped my bow off this afternoon to have new cables and strings installed this afternoon and got too wondering how many Bowhunters we have amongst us?

That's how I got started hunting way back in 1985. Bow, rifle or shotgun for waterfowl I love it all!!!

I have been bow hunting for 20 years, it is great way to extend your season, learn and apreciate the game one hunts. 8) :)

I started back in '90. I love bow hunting for multiple reasons but mainly because I think that it helps me be a better hunter. Over the last five years, I pretty much only bow hunt here in California but almost always pack a rifle when I leave the state.

I have been shooting/hunting with stick n string for years. I love the up close and personal part of bow hunting.

Tecumseh,
I've been bowhunting for 24 years, started in Calif. on pigs and Blacktails. The pigs were easy once you found them(noisey and bad eyes) the Blacktails were tough until I started hunting them out of treestands and over water. I moved to Oregon in '91 and was introduced to bowhunting Elk - What a rush! Nothing like it. In '93 & '94 pulled a "Fotis" and sold my three Weatherbys and exclusively bowhunted everything until 2009 when I had the opportunity to go to Africa and didn't want to hunt from blinds over there so I started buying guns and reloading and haven't stopped since. My kids are at legal hunting age and the decisions are hard - not enough time, tags or seasons to do it all. I've been bowhunting in Idaho for about ten years, until the wolves came, and rifle hunting for deer here in OR. I'm definately taking my son out for his first deer this year - will probably use rifles.

I love it too! I shoot a 60# Martin Hunter recurve and love it. It's just nice to get out. I am packing a rifle this year spring bear, but I might take my bow a few times and leave the rifle at home. I've been trying to call in a bear with a predator call for a few years and have not done it yet, but I think it's only a matter of time. Might have my XD40 with me just in case!

Our archery season here in Ohio usually starts around the end of Sept and ends around the first week of Feb. We can't use rifles during our gun season so I take full advantage of using a rifle when I hunt out of state.

I hunt with rifle, muzzleloader and bow. Makes the deer and elk season go from sept to jan. Never too much.

Bowhunter here!

Archery season competes with duck season over which one is my favorite. I love rifle season, but nothing compares to getting real close to a nice buck, and watching the arrow go through him.

Bowhunter here as well! I love it, but I am way more basic with the bow. I shot one bow, one kinda arrow, one kind of broadhead, etc......

I am too. I have logged more time in the woods bowhunting than any other hunting. I also believe that bowhunting makes you a better gun hunter.

I started in 94 at the age of 20 in Ohio. Garage sale bow, arrows, etc... Now I use a 2005 Hoyt VTec that I bought new in Jan 05. I absolutely love that bow. Easton Epic arrows that I cut to size, crest, and fletch myself. I also have a Martin Dreamcatcher 60# recurve that I fiddle with from time to time, but I just don't have an archery range close enough to practise enough with it.

When I moved out of Ohio in 2008 my bowhunting took a back seat until last fall when we moved to Missouri. I bowhunted for a week solid before the rifle opener and man did that get my blood pumping again for the stick and string. I can't wait for Sept 15th!!

I pretty much hunt with whatever is legal. My last 5/6 deer have been taken with a bow. I have not yet killed an elk with a bow but am gooing to give it a try again this fall, here in Washington. Bow hunting is frustrating for me, have to get way to close, I would just as soon pop them from across canyon.

I'm a bowhunter, for certain. I'm sort of like Scotty, though. One bow, one kind of arrow (a batch of 12 bought together) and one kind of broadhead. So far, works well. In fact, the first deer I killed with a bow (a 90lb doe) is easily the most personally gratifying hunting experience I've ever experienced. I went "bow only" for about a decade from 2000-2010, but then switched up to a rifle again as time passed. It's all good - I hunt with a bow in the bow season, then switch to rifle during rifle season, and occasionally get the itch to bowhunt during rifle season, and tote the old stick/string off into the woods.

Im the same way now that i am in Missouri. Bow, then rifle, then Muzzleloader, then bow again. Don't you love it!!
