Hi guys I am getting my Win M70 280AI custum back from the gunsmith this week and would like to try the 180gr bergers. Has anyone found any good loads with this combo? My barrel is a Krieger FW contour with a 1-9.5 twist finished at 24", and the powders I have on hand are H4831,Rl-22, Rl-25, Imr7828,Retumbo, and Rl-17.
Thanks
Elmer

Elmer deer,

You are going to love the 280 AI, one of the most balanced rounds available today. It has plenty of power and accuracy to cover most hunting requirements in NA.

I have only loaded 120 gr, 140 gr and 160 gr bullets in my 280 AI. RL 19 is great with the 120 gr loads and RL 22 has been the best performing powder for both 140 and 160 gr bullets.

For the 180 gr, I would look at RL 22 and IMR 4831. I haven't used RL 25, RL 17 and IMR7828 in the 280 AI but I would think they would have a good burn rate for the heavier 180 gr bullets.

If you get the urge to try the 160 gr AB, try 60.0 grs RL 22. Shoots 3019 fps from my 24" Hart barreled M700 280 AI.
