i usually use varget...

have some lapua cases and wanted to see what your results in accuracy and on game performance were with the 165 AB out of a 308 win..

I live in GA and shoot hogs and deer and a yote when I can...

I also want one load I could take anywhere in the US for ELK which is why Im picking the 165 over the 150...

any loads or terminal data with this combination is appreciated

I've got a Varget load for the 165 Partition in .308. Let me go through my data when I get home to see if I've got one for the AB. I haven't actually shot or worked up a load for my .308 since 2008. I chose the Partition because I was using it as my back-up rifle on an Oct 2008 elk hunt (my 30-06 was primary rifle)

I load 44.0gr of VARGET on the 165 AB with excellent results! It is not the max, but it is very accurate in all .308 rifles that I have shot.

The 165 gr AB is an excellent choice for the 308 Win. There are several powders that will work for you. Take a look at Varget, IMR 4895, IMR 4064, and RL15.

I just started working loading them this week for my Remington LTR

Load data:
Lapua brass
CCI BR primers
Varget Powder
2.80 COAL

It looks like 44 and 45.5 are accuracy nodes and have potential
I need to try to back off each by a grain or two I think as the 45.5 has a slightly sticky bolt and and the 44 has some vertical stringing but all touching

So you like the 168 bt accuracy better?

I have a 22" rock 5R barrel
1 in 11.25" twist

11.25 twist will be fine up to 180 grains, but no heavier. I use AA 4064 in my .308 with 140, 155, & 168 grain Nosler Custom Comps.
