Hey all. Trying to get a way from using extension rings on my Stevens so I have been looking for a Weaver/Picatiny style base so I have some room to move the rings and scope fore and aft. Savage web site recomends b-square #1552 base. Any body got one or have solved this problem. by the way I want to use all four mounting holes in the reciever. Cant believe that there is no base option for Stevens that dosent require extension rings. The b-square is a lot cheaper than the Luey but there rings look like junk. Would rather use Millet Angle lock rings with a one piece base. If all else fails I will go back to Luey rings and bases but that will cost me $60+. Whats worked for you? Thanks CL

I can't speak for what works on a Savage, as I don't yet own one, but you should be able to mount a scope on it without extension rings, it seems to me. I've used (on various makes other than Savage) Millett, Leupold, Redfield, Burris, Weaver, and Tasco mounts, and all of them have held up well in the intended application. I suspect the BSquare stuff is good, or it wouldn't stay around on the market. Once you get the one piece weaver style rail, just add the rings of your choice, and you're set. Good luck.
