Hey there,

So I've been wondering if anyone has used this medium rifle powder on anything like the 338-06? I hate to all, but can anyone run a quickload on it?

Norma brass, CCI 200, 225 AccuBond, oal of 3.450.

My fall time load is right at max with RL17, so it's very warm come summer time. I'd like to see what AR Comp can do. Hoping to get a moose draw this year, it's a long shot, but would like to start load dev this summer. Thank you.

You take a bit of a hit with AR-Comp, if velocity is your thing. Your RL17 delivers near maximum velocities, if that is important.

Wow, that is amazing. As a side note, is quickload difficult to get used to using? After a family vacation I think I am going to purchase the program.

Thank you tremendously!

I use 62.0 gr of H-414 with a WLR primer in Wby cases and the 215 gr SGK in my 338-06. In my 22" barrel I get 2750 fps with a standard deviation of 23.

I have not tried the AR Comp.

If you do any hand loading to speak of, QuickLoad is a good investment. It is as difficult as a person wishes to make the program, but the basics are easily learned. Building on the basics, people make some pretty amazing progress in a very short time.

Highly suggest Reloader 17 in the 338-06
225gr with 61.0 using WLRM primer in WW cases

Seems the flat base bullets work better.......Hornady 225SP /Speer GS 225gr / Nosler Part 225gr

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I have some 200gr E-tips loaded using 414 to test soon.

I'll look into QL after my family vacation, as long as the misses tells me I can. ;)

Do you recall if the 225 Speer Deep Curl has a flat back? I'll try loading some up. I've been loading in Win brass and it just doesn't last as long when loaded for hunting.

I believe Speer has dropped the Deep Curl line of rifle bullets, but the answer was yes it is a flat base.
H414 is a good powder for the 338-06 but the IMR 4320 was the powder for years in the 338-06. Reloader 17 changed everything when it was introduced in the 338-06. The 210 Nosler Part with 56.0 of IMR 4320 I used for years in the 338-06 for elk/deer hunting.

I have a few hundred Deep Curl bullets left, I bought about three hundred when they went on clearance years ago. I'll load some up and give it a go. Accubonds have been my bullet of choice for large game, and I have several hundred of each 180, 200, and 225 for various 338's that I own. Might as well try the DC though.

Suggest some military national match brass and reduce by 2 grains and work up.
Very good tough brass for the 338-06.
