Best Laser Rangefinders

Thoughts on the best laser rangefinder you've used that works on deer sized animals out to at least 800 yards consistently. I know some are easy getting readings out to 1000+ on large objects, but I'm looking for precise readings in all weather conditions out to at least 800 yards, thanks.

The Swaro Laser Guide 8x30 is awesome. I have ranged trees at 1740 yds. This unit is expensive, but you will never have to buy another LRF.

After years of using the Bushnell 800, I sprang for the Swarovski last year. Wonderful piece of gear. Excellent optical clarity, and yes, ranging deer at 800 is no problem. Ranging other objects at 1500 - 1700+ yards is easy too.

Really, a great little rangefinder.

Thanks guys, I've heard great things about them too so far. I just wish it had the internal inclinometer (sp?) that Opti-Logic has. That way I wouldn't have to do the math in my head everytime on an angle shot.

I am pretty fond of my Leica 1200.

I"ve ranged both deer and elk out to 800 yards with my nikon 800, but condidtions have to be perfect. I was out yote hunting this weekend and happened to hav ea yote sitting out in the wheat field. I know he was no more then 600 yards, but my rangefinder would not pick him up. Needless to say, I missed the stupid coyote cuz I didn't know the range and therefor didn't know how far to dial up. I wished I had the swaro or leica 1200 for that one. I"ve found it hard for rangefinders to pick up objects across large flats or fields. Myabe its just my nikon, I dont know. I've never got to play with a leica 1200 or swaro, but from reading others post, the swaro is the absolute way to go for ranging capabilitys in any weather or range. If you only want to shoot 1200 or so, the leica is your can of beans. If you see yoruself wanting to shoot farther, the swaro might be on your list.

I still have my Nikon 800 on standby. Served me well for several years. But last year however, I switch to Swarovski and it doubled my ranging capability. Now, all I need is a rifle that has twice the reach than the one I currently have :wink:.
