My load for hunting and shooting is a 180 gr. bullet over 72 gr. of H-4350. My rifle shoots sub 1/2 MOA with this combination. For practice I use Speer FB, because it has an identical BC to the 180 Partition which I use for big game hunting. This combination has been proven time after time, since I first started using it over 40 years ago.

Though the 180gr bullet is heavier then I think I need for white tails in a 300WIn it might be the ticket for the best accuracy load.
I used a similar combination as you suggested in a 300Bee I once owned and it was very accurate but too much recoil for me. I don't seem to mind the recoil as much in the Winchester magnums as much as I did the 300Bee.
Right now I have a ladder loaded with the 165gr Hornady SPBT over some H4831 and like the way I get good case fill with the powder and plan on trying 4350 also. The Alliant powders produce some great speeds but I wish they were a little bulkier for better case fill in the bigger cases.

If a 165-200 gr bullet in a 300 WM doesn't shoot with R22 then try a different bullet. If you ve still got accuracy issues start looking at gun!
