Let see the different colour phase black bears you have pictures of.

First off her is the Kermode bear which lives in the north coast of B.C. and adjacent inland areas. The white phase is closed to hunting in B.C.

Here is a blonde bear I shot 7 or 8 years ago. We had a strawberry blonde bear come in to our bait but never presented a shot. It's probably the coolest color phase I've seen.

That's gorgeous, looks to be pretty similar to the Kermode bears here.

This guy from a couple of years ago did have a hint of brown.

I saw one that I'd call Cinnamon. Don't have pictures. It would be a redder version of the blond....nice bear. (Was in the back of a truck in the keweenaw peninsula (MI UP ).(overbait)

We had 14 different bears come into our bait the year we saw the strawberry blonde bear (and it was bright red with a lighter blonde then the bear I put the picture up of). Over half of them were color phase bears. There was one other bear that was a dark blonde plus several cinnamon and chocolate phase.

Gerry - your photos of the bears put me to shame! I've very few photos of live bears, none are any good.

I do have a couple of photos of our Washington State black bears, in "chocolate" phase. But they're very dead bears:

A nice chocolate taken by my son a couple of years ago:

And one I shot in 2010:

John's first bear, 2010:

That was a productive hunt!

Gerry,
That looks like an old Smasher to me! Nice.
Most of our Alaska blackies struggled to reach
7'........IMAGE00023.jpg
But almost always jet black in the interior.

I'd call this a mixture of cinnamon and chocolate but no telling what color it would be when it grows up. After all, it's just a Cub....

LOL Love It. Lefty you have just entered the humor ring with Dr Mike and April

Gerry, we have white bears lol

The Grolar or Prizzly have unusually coloring, usually more white than variations of brown but always some mixture of these colors, of course Gerry was speaking of Black Bear color phases

This is a common looking bear here, shiny jet black fur :) Some are black and have a brown nose others have a white patch on the centre of their chest.

Guy, I would say you have some nice pictures, especially that one with 3 nice bear hides in the back of the truck :)

Earle, that bear was solidly into the 6' range, a nice mature boar.

Lefty, nice looking "cub" ;)

Thanks to all who put up pictures so far, lets see some more

Cheyenne, would love to see any pictures of any kind of Polar or Grolar bear, we don't discriminate here ;)

These are the bear photos Gil is posting.

Brown phase Black Bear photographed near Moberly Lake, BC.

Blonde phase black bear near Chinchaga Lakes, BC.

White phase black bear near Chinchaga Lakes, BC.

Hope the pic is attached, s. Oregon spring bear taken 2011

A beautiful bear, RR. A rarity in my AO, but apparently more common in other areas.

Well it seems that when Nosler up graded the forum settings to block spam the pictures from photo bucket won't down load or at least they won't for me. It goes to photo bucket and just tries to load.
