What type of fouling are you targeting? I use common household or shop solvents for carbon, plastic wads, corrosive ammo or cast bullets/lube. I use a specific formula based on type of fouling. For copper fouling I stick with Sweets 7.62, it just works and a bottle lasts so long I don't care about the price.
For straight carbon fouling rubbing alcohol or toluene are very effective. Follow with a light coat of penetrating oil. For plastic wads, acetone works well, follow with light oil. For corrosive mil. ammo I use simple green cleaner diluted with 50% water.
Deaton's Gun Care is based on ammonia and at the same time has a lubricant that neutralizes the ammonia after a short while and you only have to dry patch the bore when finished and you are good to go. It is all I use now and is outstanding for breaking in of a barrel as well. Boretech was one I tried but did not do as good a job as Deaton's Gun Care. http://www.deatonsguncare.com/
