Good luck at the range. What bullets are they. I thought you were shooting the 165gr HPBT? Those look like some Hornadys or something. Scotty

I am shooting the 165gr Sierra G/K HPBT for hunting. These are 208gr Amax for long range target shooting out to 600yds :)

Ah, got it. They look pretty sleek! Are you going back out to Gerry's to do some shooting? Good luck, hope you get some great shooting no matter where you go. Scotty

Thanks doc, can't wait to get in the woods this year and also take pictures besides just hunting. :)

No, not going to Jerry's to shoot long range until spring. I will be looking for accurate loads to use then, that is what this is about.

Ah, got it! How do the 180gr BT's or the 200gr Accubonds shoot out of your 300 Mike? Seems like those would make good long range target loads also. Plus, the Berger VLD's might be pretty cool too. I know you have already tested a bunch, I know you will have accurate loads. I need Dr Mike and yourself to come through Va and give me a reloading class! Just to fine tune me! Scotty

Scotty, you will do just fine your whole life no matter what you try. Dr. Mike and I have been lucky more times than good if we were to be up front. Time has taught us some things but I think Mike would agree with me, that it is still great to get lucky with our reloading and finding accuracy when you consider all the variables and possibilities there are when it comes to developing loads.

The 180gr BT's shot good and the Accubonds did well but the BC of the Amax keeps my speed up at distance and also less wind drift. Don't like Bergers (preference of mine) but will be trying Seirra's 210 soon. :)

I knew that about the Bergers. I wasn't sure if you minded them for target shooting. I was pretty sure you wouldn't hunt with them. I guess that big Sierra would be pretty good. I know the 200gr Sierra GK's shoot really well out of my 300WM. Right now, I still have about 40 loaded with RL22 so until I empty those out I am on hold for developing my 200gr PT loads.

I think you have had more than luck. I know you two (now refererred to as M&M!) have a ton of knowledge and I am glad you two drop some knowledge on us young bucks (or bulls) once in awhile. Reloading has to be the best hobby, next to hunting I have ever done. It is going on 20 years at a bench for me and I still learn a ton around here all the time. Scotty

Mike,

Great photos! I like #1 the best.

Thanks JD, it really was lot of fun to see what I could do with them. I like #1 a lot also but you guys are not biased toward the photo's but I am and you guys can help me out. I might enter one of these in a photo contest about hunting stuff.

Scotty,

I'm a rookie at hand loading. I'm humbled at how very little I know. I am blessed to have had the opportunities I have. Truly, God has been gracious to me to permit me to have the experiences and opportunities I enjoy. I stumbled into my current location, and you couldn't pry me out with a crowbar.

Mike, if you are calling yourself a rookie, I better get downstairs and start practicing some more! Scotty

Scotty,

It is no joke. I learn so much just listening to the fellows on the various boards. I can discount some of the information, because I've already tested it. Other information compels me to spend some time at the bench and at the range because it is just too good to ignore it. My notes comprise a veritable cornucopia of information, most of it acquired from others. I do enjoy getting into the science of hand loading, however. It flows out of my years in the laboratory. One of the things I enjoy about this particular science, is the mathematics, which simply cannot be dismissed. Yeah, I'm a rookie, that there is a wealth of knowledge I'm gleaning on an ongoing basis from this forum alone.

Mike, this place has been just as good as picking up the latest manual. Most folks don't put crazy loads up or do unsafe stuff around here. With the little practices you all have taught me, I have become 50% better than I ever was! Between you, JD, Guy and a bunch of others, I have picked up a ton. Granted, I am needing to get a 2nd job to support my habit, but it is still a good one! Scotty
