Brandon's Christmas Present

I drive right past it every Friday and Sunday going from and to Va.. It is hard to drive by, but I think my wife has me beaconed, if I get too close an alert goes off and asks why I need to be there..

Well it must be on 95 and I've been passed it a Million times in the Truck but have never seen it. I have seen the Bass Pro shop out side of Richmond but haven't been there either. Seen one Bass Pro you've seen them all.

It is just to the South of Bass Pro. Can't miss it.. Sit's right where the old Gander Mountain was.

Scotty ,I cant wait to see what load you get worked up for it.I am sure you have plenty of partitions and accubonds ready to go.Lee

Yeah, that is the plan... I am wondering how it shoots myself. Looking forward to just getting it on paper and working a little with it.

I am hoping the Winchesters will rub off a little on that Weatherby... Trying to let them cohabitate for awhile before we shoot it....

Bill,
That is really a fine thing you did. Amazing in this day and age.

Scotty,
Got him started on Weatherby rifles. Maybe these guys are wrong and that nasty Winchester bug won't bite him.

He is in love with his little 7x57 fella's. It'll be hard to pull that rifle from his fingers, but I bet when he learns how to shoot that 300, he'll be packing it elk! I ordered up a set of Talley's for him. Just gotta get everything put together and zeroed. Looking forward to seeing what it does.

I am not sure if he is as brand specific as his father, he see's them more as tools, okay by me. If he is smart, he'll spend his extra money on hunting when he is older, rather than acquiring a bunch of rifles he wouldn't use all the time..

Brandon that is one heck of a Christmas present!!! Knowing the history of that rifle will always have special place in your heart.
Bill that was really neat in what you did for Brandon, I am saying thank you even though I know that both Brandon & Scotty have thanked you a 100 times or more.
That is going above and beyond in keeping our young men in the hunting & shooting sport.
So nice to see this post..

Blessings,
Dan

The making of a weatherby man! Brings a tear to my eye!

Wow that's awesome. Bill that is really neat! Congrats Brandon on a special rifle. Scotty you may be okay as that rifle crank stuff has been known to skip generations. My grandpa was a crank my father did a little reloading but not much and well, I'm firmly following my grandfathers footsteps! My reloading room already looks like his basement. I know where this path leads.

I know that Scotty is truly upset now that "all" of those model 70's, have seen a truly "great" rifle. Their may be a revolution in the safe.

G'Day Fella's,

SJB358, great stuff and well done on the Christmas present!
It's always good to see responsible young adults, getting involved in our sport!

Doh!
Homer

Bill, Scotty, Is this one of the early Mauser Bee's? Or is it a early "made in Southgate" Bee of the MarK V types?

It is a made in Japan Weatherby. Not sure what era that is though. I know very little about Weatherby rifles.. Figure I should learn a little though...

Probably the mid 1980's? Made through the 1980's to about the end of 90's in Japan? It is a Mark V then? I do not know either, mine was made in about 1994 in Japan.
