Browning X-Bolt Hunter or Winchester M70 Featherweight

Either would be good, solid, accurate guns, get the one that fits you and feels the most comfortable when you handle it. I have to say that I have been very impressed with the X Bolt the times I've handled them.

Winchester, even though a Featherweight would not be my first choice for a short mag (but that's just a personal hangup).

I much prefer the Winchester for the Mauser style action, looks, feel, and I've been very impressed with my son's 300 WSM Extreme Weather SS. For a variety of reasons I have never cared a lot for the new Brownings and one of those reasons is the fact that they are made in Japan.

That's a hard one IMO. The Browning are normally very accurate, but with that being said I would go with the new Winchester model 70 because of the classic rifle design. The new Model 70 that I have shot have been accurate and will last a life time.

I dunno. I haad my ex-son in law's .300 WSM Featherweight for almost a motnh while doing the load work ups for him. Recoil was not all that bad and accuracy was good with all the loads I worked up. If I didn't already have a M70 push feeder in .300 Win. mag. that was o accurate it's seriously consider buying one of those Featherweights myself. Besides, I already have two, a .257 Bob and 7x57 and I do like the lines of the guns and they fit me quite well.

Oh, it's not that I think that a WSM is goona beat me up in a Featherweight, I just have a goofy idea in my head that Featherweights should be chambered in :
#1 .270
#2 .30-06
#3 7x57
#4 .243
#5 .280

It just doesn't seem right for a Featherweight to be a Magnum. I know, I'm a little odd.

I love my WSM Featherweights (270WSM, 7mm WSM, 300WSM and 325WSM). Kurt, the WSMs and Featherweights were made for one another.

I'll stick with Sporters and Extreme Weathers, thank you. Particularly EWs.

I have a Winchester FW in 270WSM It's my second favorite rifle I own.
MY absolute favorite is my custom Winchester FW in 6.5 Creedmoor

Okay so I like Featherweights.

My Brownings (A-Bolts) are gone. I have replaced them with other makes. I prefer the Model 70 Sporter's to the Brownings, particularly the triggers of the Model 70. Either way, they are made by Browning.

Well I think I might just end up getting a Sporter instead of a FW, my dad just went and got a Sporter in 300 wsm, I was with him and we both handled the EW, FW, and Sporter, and to both of us the Sporter felt the most comfortable even though it was the heaviest of the three, plus the stocks on the ones they had there were all a really deep colored wood and looked very nice. So it looks like it will be a Winchester mdl70 for me.

The .300 WSM has a little bite with recoil. I had one in the Browning A-Bolt and it just kicked a little harder from missing that extra 1/2 pound of weight.

WSMs, that is. I still have designs on FWTs in .22-250, .243, and maybe 7-08.

I already own a 7WSM in a Browning X-bolt, so i am pretty sure that one is enough, i have a 300WSM as well in a Tika, i just want to get 270WSM to round out the group, i will not get the 325WSM, because i have no need nor want to get one.

I could see one of those 7 WSM EWs in my safe.
