bullet crimping

I've used them in some of my rifles. You are absolutely able to set your seat depth as you like it, as you seat first, then change dies, and crimp everything. They are pretty good, although not every rifle I own benefited (in terms of consistency of velocity) from using them, so I don't use them all the time. For some of my rifles, though, they were a big help. Not too expensive to try out one caliber at a time, that's for sure.

So do you just adjust the pin so it seats before it crimps and then use the crimp die?

Have you tried it on a 270 win? If so, what kind of results did u have?

That's exactly how you do it. Just screw the seating stem in far enough to keep the case mouth out of the crimp on your seating die. I haven't used them in 270Win, as I don't currently own one, but I've used them in 30-30, .243Win, and 8x57, which are similar in pressure and such, and it works fine. I didn't find it to be particularly helpful in making pressure or velocity more consistent or loads more accurate (so far) for my 8x57, but I am still working up loads for it.

Not that I've been able to tell, but then again I haven't done it more than twice to the same case, so it could later on, but I doubt it.

i reload hunting ammo, i really like the lee crimpers. i wish i had one for every cartrage i reload for. in a 300 win mag it shrank groups, in a 6.5x55 it stopped the flyers
