I'm traveling to Colorado next week to scout my hunting location. The question is can I buy a firearm there with out the hassel I get from trying to buy one from where I live here in California. Ten day waiting period!

The nearest store that sells any form of rifle is the Big 5, pre scope mounted rems and mossberg stuff. They don't have what I am looking for.

The town I will be staying in has 4 very nice shops. Can't wait....

Just found out. Any person other than California residents can walk in and buy over the counter same day.

You are correct. Most western states will allow residents from other western states to purchase rifles and shotguns. I don't know about handguns. If you are a CA resident, you are just plain screwed, in more ways than just firearm purchases.

Can't say I know the regulations if your from out of state, however the only wait is the CBI back-ground check... busy weekend day you might wait 30 min then it's yours.
What part of the state are you coming to?

I don`t know why a Cal resident couldn`t buy a rifle the same as any other visitor could. They might not be able to legally import the new firearm back into California when they go home though....the laws change there everyday it seems.
BTW, this is all opinion, I have NO experiance dealing with CA or any other state laws except my own.

Powerstroke,

I will be staying at my family's cabin about 10 miles south of Mesa. Mesa is about 40 miles east of Grand Junction.

Found out yesterday that a friend of mine has a friend that has a firearm license, what luck! I am meeting him today to design and build a custom AR 308.

I will spend a few day's scouting units 12,23 & 24 then head to the Blue Mesa Res. and do some trolling for fresh water kokanee salmon. Life is good.
