Maybe this is a quick load question- as not many folks play with the 250-3000 Savage. Many of you have had good luck with the accu-bond but they are only available in 110 grain weight in .25 calibre. I have always understood the the 250 savage case was too smallto handle much more than the 100 Gr. pill. My yardstick would be a muzzle velocity of 2800 fps. If I cant do that I;ll just stick with the Partition. So is there a powder (i'd prefer 4064 or 4350) and load that might meet the velocity needs with a 110 AB? Thanks- CL

RL15 and H100V may just be the powders you are looking for. In a 22 inch barrel they just fall short of 2800 fps.

It really depends on what rifle you are using. If you are using a M-99 Savage lever action I would not try to push that bullet that fast. If you are using a strong bolt action rifle with at least a 22" barrel then yes 2800 fps with the 110 AccuBond should be doable. If you have a bolt rifle you should be able to load the bullet OAL a little longer. In my limited experimentation with accbond bullets it seems that they want to shoot pretty good around 10 thousands off the lands. In a bolt rifle I would work up to a max of about 34.0 grs IMR 4064. The only data that I have is for 100 and 117 gr bullets so I split the difference between their max loads to come up with 34.0 grs.

The only AccuBond bullets I have used are the 130 gr in my 264 Win mag. I am pushing them 3350 fps and I killed 4 deer this year with this setup from 98 to 275 yards and all were one shot drop them in their tracks. I did recover one of the bullets. It was from a good size buck that I shot at 111 yards that was facing me with just a slight left front shoulder angle. The bullet entered the front edge of the left shoulder and destroyed the shoulder and made soup out of it's vitals and when I was cutting up the deer I found the bullet in it's right ham. The bullet was a perfect mushroom with the front half of the jacket peeled back over the base half that still contained the lead core. The recovered bullet weight was 71 grs. Now that is what I call a real bullet to stand up to that high velocity and go through a shoulder and close to 5 feet of deer and still be in tact.

Check the twist on your rifle, especially if it is an older rifle. Some of the older 250 Savages had 12" or 14" twist rates. If your's is newer it might have a 10" twist. It might work with the 10" twist, probably not if it's any slower.

The rifle in question is an FN Mauser with a medium weight 1:10 twist. It could work but it likes 75 Gr V-max the best. Maybe.... Thanks CL
