I have yet to turn case necks. Looking for input. Dors it effect accuracy? Velocity? Case life? What brand neck turner do you guys recommend? Is it more for bench rest guns or does it make a big enough difference for hunting rifles that it is worth doing?

Probably won't make any accuracy difference with a standard rifle. Can be necessary for certain wildcats or custom chambers with a tight neck.Rick.

Basically if I measure the thickness of the brass at the case neck there are small but slight thickness variations. .017 -.015. Turning is what I was meaning to say. To uniform the thickness of the case neck material

From what to what?

If you mean to tighten a group up a tenth or so, yeah maybe.

Other than that....on a typical sporter platform it doens't really matter.

I have never turned or measured a case neck. Its not necessary for hunting accuracy

I like and use the Forster for neck turning and trimming. I prefer to eliminate any variables. Case is trimmed to .005 below chamber and it works for me.

G'Day Fella's,
SAS874runner, as mentioned above, case neck trimming is a necessity!
As to case neck turning, unless you have a Tight Neck Chamber, or want extreme accuracy out of a Target Rifle, it's not a thing I would recommend!
For starters, it's a SERIOUS PAIN to accomplish , and if it is only for a hunting rifle, probably a waste of time!

The only other suggestion I have is, if they are available in the caliber you have, purchase some Lapua cases and see what a difference they make?

Hope that helps

Doh!
