Loaded some ammunition for my buddies new TC pro hunter in 7mm Rem mag. Brass was once fired remington. The cases split just in front of the belt after firing. We tried new Federal factory ammunition and there is a bright ring just in front of belt after firing. Any ideas what is going on here? Rifle has less than 25 rounds through it.

STW,

It sounds like a head spacing issue. Call T/C customer service and explain the problem. I would think they would want you to send the rifle back for inspection. Let us know what T/C has to say.

I would send that baby back.

I loaded for a friends 300WM in an Encore and I set the dies up to space off the shoulder and not the belt and his case life went way up, he had a seperation also prior to resetting the dies.

similar problem with a Handi rifle in 243. Adjusted the die and now I have brass thats been fired 5 times without any signs of separation.
Break open action rifles are often chambered loosely, permitting proper ejection.

My friend has talked to TC Arms and they have asked the rifle be returned to them for inspection. This may take a while since it has to go from Canada to USA and back. Will post their findings once we haer back.

It's a headspace issue that has to do with the way and amount you are sizing the brass. It doesn't get the camming action of a bolt. Google Mike Bellm and you will find more info. I'm 99 percent sure T/C will just return the rifle with a clean bill of health....owner of 2 Encores and several barrels.

try this,
punch a 7RM case out to 30 cal, then resize a little at a time, trying it in the gun after each pass through the sizer, keep trying and screw the down a bit after each pass, when you can get the gun closed with a firm snap, lock it down and load a couple. see if that helps.

+1. Back off your sizing die until you just bump the shoulder and try again. Might have to pull the bullets and fireform your already over re-sized cases.

Headspace issue for sure...

Just remember, the TC rifle is crap in my book.... Could of saved a few bucks and bought a Savage or even a Remy CDL and you're good to go for sure...

don't waste your time with TC....
