Thinking of getting one of my blued hunting rifles done in Cerakote to help make it a little more rust resistant.
How does cerakote hold up around the muzzle brake?
I did have a couple rifles done up with cerakote but they didn't have a brake on them.
Pretty sure it will hold up well but just wanted to ask some of you guys or gals that actually have done this on braked rifles.

I don't have experience with it, but my buddy has a .338 Edge cerakoted with a brake and there has been no peeling or shedding of the coating on it with several hundred rounds fired though it. Someone with more expertise may have a better answer, but I would think it would hold up just fine on a muzzle brake.

My muzzle brake on my 338 win mag is cerakoted and looks like the same day I got it back from the gunsmith 3 years ago and at least 450 rounds.

I have to add though that I believe the professional performing the job has a lot to do with how it holds up.

G'Day Fella's,

Velvetant, I apply Cerakote to the sound suppressors/silencers and muzzle brakes that I manufacture, and to the occasional firearm.
In my experience, Cerakote starts to get eroded from the within the ports of the muzzle brakes, after a while!
It is a great product, but it aint that good!!!

Hope that helps

Doh!

I figured that would happen, I shot IPSC open class for awhile and watch the comps get eroded away and was sure that Cerakote wouldnt hold up in the ports.
I just wanted to make sure it didn't get under the Cerakote and start peeling away, although I
have never heard of that happening.
Thanks for the info everyone.
