Closure for Neighboring Hunter

Curt, who hunts on a neighboring property posted this video on YouTube. I had asked around the neighbors when I found a broadhead stuck in a vertebrae of the buck I shot with the 7mm WSM during rifle season. This is the result of those inquiries.

That is a great outcome, Dan. I've certainly found my share of animals with bullet wounds healed over, and with broadheads embedded in the animal. I've found one animal with a broken tine embedded in the flesh. Moose, elk, and deer are hearty animals that take a lot of abuse and keep right on doing their thing. The scars on bears are witness of some ferocious battles that did not always result in a victory for the sounded. And they survived to battle another day. It is humbling to see the ability of animals in the wild to overcome what we might think are overwhelming odds.

This past season, Sue shaved a nice 8 pt at 20 yards with her bow. With a hold on the heart, it went low. I checked her sights and it was shooting 5" low at 20 yards. I made the correction and she was back in the game. Fast forward to rifle season and my daughter Danielle shot a nice 8 pt with the rifle. Looking over her buck hung up on the barn, I noticed the shave from a Muzzy broad head. It was 5" low from the heart shot hold Sue had on her missed buck. It was the same buck and gave closure for Sue.
Curt experienced the same feeling of closure as well.

Back in 2020 I shot a 8 pointer that had a healing wound from an arrow. Found out a neighbor had a buck he hit and couldn’t find. I got lucky and got him.
