I inherited my first Colt and wanted to share. Please feel free to chime in with any information, as I am new to the Colt world.

Here is what I have been able to find out so far:
  1. M1877 38 DA
  2. Serial number indicates an 1892 build
  3. All 4 serial numbers I found match
  4. Fully functioning and a clean bore
  5. Order sent to Colt for archive letter
  6. No idea on value, but seems to be an exciting part of history
  7. Pictures attached
Happy Friday!

Don't know anything about the revolver but what a nice piece of history to inherit. What is it chambered in?

I hope you are aware that the internals of your gun are somewhat fragile. They're nice guns but notorious parts breakage. FWIW, that model in IIRC was Henry McCarty's favorite gun. You know him as Willian Bonney or Billy the Kid. Think what that gun would be worth if it traced to Billy. Nice gun.

That is a great acquisition! Congratulations. Fascinating to see what you learn with the archival letter.
