This is one of the advantages of bushing type neck-sizing dies. There is no expander, so the brass is worked less, and in theory, the case & neck should be very straight, coming out of the inline/benchrest dies made by Wilson. Also the amount of neck sizing can be adjusted, by using different neck bushings, to reach the perfect combo for your brass, bullets & chamber.

Guy, does any one make bushing dies for a press that uses 7/8" dies?

I also ordered my new de-capping stem from Redding and they are sending it free of charge.

Yes. Redding. I haven't used their match dies myself, but understand they're very good.

Guy,

Not entirely true. The Redding ones come with an expander, and my 7mm Wby one came without it installed, while the 257 did. The first time I used the 257 I had a little "wtf" moment, and called Redding. The tech mentioned that they actually recommend still using the expander even with the bushing die.

Didn't make much sense to me, but that's what he said. I have not compared brass sized with and without the expander, but it is now removed on both of my dies.

Just got a nice E-mail from the senior customer service rep from Redding thanking for my phone call and for using Redding reloading equipment. He also said the new stem was in the mail.

Guy I didn't look at the match dies, guess I'll have to check them out.

Thanks for the info jimbires.

Interesting! A couple of my buddies use those Redding match dies to produce very high quality ammo for their precision .308 Win rifles. I have no idea if they use the expander ball or not!

Thanks, Guy

I have had several Telephone and E-mail conversations with Chris Fox the senior customer service rep for Redding and you couldn't want to converse with a nicer person. He has answered all my questions and concerns and what he didn't know he went to the Chief Engineer to get the answers. Talk about good customer service! (y)
Today my new decapping stem arrived from Cortland NY and wasn't expecting it this fast with the weather an being just after the hollidays, plus it was mailed on Tuesday and arrived on Thursday.
USPS has some good service also, faster than FedEx.

I also got a new catalog from them and noticed they have a new carbide style expander stem available for everything from .338-.20 caliber, no .358 :( . If any one is interested for $45.70.
They also have changed up the tapered sizer button from what I can see and after installing it in my die I ran a couple of cases threw the die and the button seemed to have less drag.
I'm going to size a few more cases with it to see if there really is any improvement and will report latter.
