Your 308 Win should work on elk to 300 yds. The 165 gr AB would be a good choice. The 180 gr AB would also work. You should be able to get well into the 2600's, which will do the job on an elk.

I'm not sure that I can see out to 300 with a 4X. Wouldn't know whether to look through the top or bottom half of my bifocals.

I have 165gr partitions loaded up. Maybe I'll invest in some 180gr AB's and give them a try. Isn't the .358 Federal simply a necked-up .308?

Because you live in Mass and Ted Kenedy is yous senator you should be able to get a car tag for deer. :shock: :grin:
Those cars are far more lethal than guns, especially the 308. :grin:
