I have been loading Nosler Partitions in 7 Mag and 270 Winch. No Problems. Recently purchased Weatherby Vanguard in 270 Winch and have found that tips are deforming in Magazine. Will going to the AccuBond eliminate this problem? I am also looking for an Elk capable bullet. I feel the 150 gr Part meets this need. Will the 140 gr AccuBond meet this need as well. Finally, will Nosler make a 150 gr AccuBond in 270?

Other than look bad, deformed tips do not hurt hunting accuracy. Try them at the range for verification. Can't help with the Elk question, never hunted them.Rick.

No worries about the deformed tips.
The 140 gr AB should do the trick on elk.
Send a post to Nosler asking for a 150 gr AB for your 270.
They are listing to our request.

I must disagree with the rest of these posts.I have personally switched from 250gr.Game Kings to 225gr.Ab's because of the magazine deformation. It threw my rounds off enough that I couldn't trust them for a follow up shot if nessisary.Especially after the second,or third shot.May be my rifle, maybe not.The AB's cured the problem,& I'll be happy when Nosler finally makes a 250gr.AB for my 338.

The San Carlos Apache Guide I hired for an anterless elk hunt told me he uses 130gr ammo in his 270 for elk, it's all about bullet placement.A good friend of mine has used a Ruger #1 in 6mm for elk in Colorado but he can place his shots just like he did in vietnam as a usmc sniper. .

Your correct! It's all about bullet placement. My buddy shot a 7 point bull elk here in Utah with his 25.06 one shot he dropped it!

AccuBond's look good and are very accurate. deformed tips will affect accuracy. An elk's kill zone is a lot bigger 2" @ 300 yds but a bullet that will kill elk and fly like a match round is one worth loading.
The 140 gr AB should do the trick on elk.

Do you have any idea why the bullets are deforming in the magazine of your Vanguard, and not in your previous rifle?

Is the rifle lighter, or the magazine spring lighter?

If dinging up the tips is all that happens, I guess that's safe enough, but if the bullets get pushed back into the case, that's another matter.

Just curious.

I can also kill the biggest white-faced bull that ever walked with a .22 LR but it 'ain't' something I'm going to hunt with!! :(
