Deter pests from feeders??

Any ideas how to keep the squirrels and racoons from chewing up deer feeders? They have gnawed holes trough the lids and sides of the plastic hoppers. These are hanging feeders without legs. Thinking about putting carpet tack strips on the hanging bracket and high enough up the tree beyond where a deer would bump into them. Might also keep the black bears away, or really pizz one off!

grabbed some rat wire from Lowe's and going to make a cage around them with a flip open hatch on the top for refilling the hopper.

Holy hollering hogs Batman! I bet they smelled bacon cooking for days. Don't think I have it in me for that.

Problem solved. Found these 6-1/2 gallon metal fermenting buckets with lids. Used a hole saw to cut a hole in the bottom, gave the silver can a quick camo job, and attached the timer/spinner. Naturally I brought my drill and lag bolts to secure the bracket to the tree, but forgot the drive socket, so temporarily had to use ratchet straps. Won’t stop a bear, but the squirrels shouldn’t chew through them.
