Disappointing Bullet Prefomance

I also had problems getting the original Barnes X to shoot in my .25-06 years ago and never looked back.

A few months back I shot a coyote at 53 yards using 00Buckshot. He dropped and I walked up, poked his eyeball with my shotgun barrel and he didn't flinch. I flipped him over, looked in its mouth and grabbed its back leg to "see what I had". He was a young male and his...ahem...Scrotum, berries, boys, coin purse...(You pick a term) was all tore up. I stood up and gave a meaningful apology "Oooo, sorry little buddy". So, a good 3-5 minutes had passed since I pulled the trigger...I noticed what looked like a stick hanging from the afore mentioned "parts". I nudged the "stick" with my shotgun barrel and the damn coyote came back to life!!!! It appears that shooting him square in the chest with buckshot will knock him right over, but touch his damaged package, and I was in a world of hurt!!! After jumping out of my skin I finished him with my trusty .45acp. It turned out that it was an old injury. His "nuggets" were (let's say, exposed to the elements) and the "stick" happened to be the dried up scrotum skin. And now..... it's time for breakfast!!! I took much pride in putting him out of his misery!!!!!

I did not realize that the TTSX has already been proven to be a failure.

I do not know whether the tipped version has had failures or not. I just said that none have a stellar reputation YET

I certainly hope the TTsx is proven to be a great bullet. I have loaded thm for some people but all shot have been relatively close. They worked great. 2 elk 1 deer and 1 antelope. All drt.... time will prove.

Yes Pop, I hope so too, the more good choices the better & helps keep prices down, well alittle.

My Bro shoots the 130 TTSX now and used to shoot the 180 TSX out of his 308. Could not get the 180s to open up at 300 yards in a dirt bank. He hasn't killed anything with the 130s yet but got a buck tag and a speed goat tag this year so I'm sure they get some blood on them.

I whacked a Cow elk at 225 yards with a 225 TSX out of my 338 WM and put it through both shoulders to try to catch the bullet but it kept on trucking. She ran 25 yards and flopped over. One thing that I have noticed with the solid copper bullets is you don't seem to get the "whomp" when you hit something with them. Makes it kind of hard to hear a hit. I stood right next to a guy who shot a 315 bull in Idaho about 75 yards away and he hit it twice with 180 X's out of a 300 Bee. Never heard one bullet hit. Just poked two holes through him.

I'm trying to convert him over to the 150 AB just so he can buy seconds and for the better BC on some of the longer range shots.

I've had 100% positive results from the TSX so far, primarily the 168 gr. in a .300 mag and the 140 gr. in a 7mm mag. They kill stuff quick and are accurate to boot.

JJHack has a good write-up on 'em at 24hourcampfire on the Africa forum.

Yes, a good report indeed & the forum mentions many successes & failures. I still believe the Tip should remove the failures.
