G'Day Fella's,

The above is a question I have asked myself and also a couple of mates of mine, have recently asked me!
I recently purchased a couple of "Buckets of Bullets" (Remington Hi-Velocity, 36grn HP Golden Bullet, .22LR ammo in buckets of 1400 bullets), and was away bush on the weekend for a shot.
Late Saturday arvo, I went up to the shootin bench/range and fired 1 group each with some Lapua Standard Club ammo, and then another with the above Rem ammo.

I have shot a heap of nice little groups with this Lapua ammo before but I wasn't expecting similar groups with the Hi-Velocity Remington ammo!
Please, check out the images for a bit of a surprise!!!

Interesting post, Homer. I shoot the Remington HP Golden Grain bullet for grouse. In my T-Bolt, it gives me tiny, little groups at fifty yards. It serves me very well when I want to pick the head off a grouse.

At the price point CZ occupies I would say yes, where did you get the aluminum trigger guard? Is that a standard , aftermarket, or custom piece?

I would agree with usmc 89's post they are great guns for the money and mine isn't going to go up for sale :) A high dollar Anschutz or other brand might be more accurate and more refined but the CZ is a nice gun too.

I just found, at my local gun emporium, a CZ 453 American used and priced accordingly. This model became the Model 455 in 2012. My gun looks like the 455 but is marked 453. The gun did not come with the required 11mm rings and I had to order same from Midway yesterday. So, no groups for a few more days until the rings arrive. I have a free (unattached) Zeiss 2.5-8x32 Conquest waiting to be mounted on this rifle posthaste, upon arrival of the rings. We shall see what the capabilities of this rifle are
when the rings arrive!
I have a full brick of Federal LR ammo waiting for the rings to arrive and have been told that I can expect group of 1/2 inch size with this ammo.

I hope you post your results Charlie when you get a chance too, the 453 is supposed to have the set trigger option which would be nice to have. I would bet it won't take too long to find ammo that the gun will like.

Man, I don't own a 22! Probably should have one though. I know I've liked every CZ I've looked at. Nice wood and well put together.

Think it's harder to find 22 ammo than a good 22 these days.

They might not be the best, but they're about as good as you'll do without spending several hundred dollars more. Very nice rifle right there, Homer.

Or four or five...

Scotty you ought to fix that.

On the original post, mine like most 22 ammo. Stingers were ok but an occasional flyer. Everything else has shot well.
As I have mentioned before, I am partial to CZs.

I do not have a large selection of ammo. Locally, here in the Northwest, buying rimfire ammo is like finding hens teeth. The shop where I bought the gun only had the really cheap stuff. I have some Federal, CCI and Winchester. We will see which of these shoots best? All of them are accurate in my Winchester 63. Gerry: it does have the set trigger option.

G'Day Fella's,

Thank You your kind words about this rifle, I'm a pretty happy camper!

USMC, the Aluminum trigger guard is made (CNC Machined) by an Australian bloke near Brisbane, let me know if you would like his contact details!

Old Trader 3, as Gerry mentions above, the CZ 453 is the same as my CZ 452-2E but with a fully adjustable trigger!
IIRC, it's the exactly the same trigger as that fitted to the CZ 527 (.22 Hornet, .222, .223 etc) rifle, which is a very good trigger!!!

Hope that helps

By the way, I'm sure the flier in both groups was me, not the ammo or rifle!
Also, the only thing I have done to this rifle, was fit a Pachmyer recoil pad, floated the barrel, and reduced the trigger pull and polished the sear surfaces!
When I get a chance (Ha-Bloody-Ha!!!), I would like to minimise the creep in the trigger and fit a 12x fixed Leupold scope to it, for Rim Fire BR shooting.

Doh!
Homer

Homer I have a 527 in .204 Ruger. I noticed that the 453 trigger looks the same and has the set feature.

I love my 452 American and the Scout the kids use.

I did the Brooks trigger kit to both with mine being lighter.

Great guns!
