Doctor's orders

To a certain degree, they already advise this...even if they aren't actually writing you a prescription...

They are constantly telling us to relax and reduce our levels of stress; nothing does this better than a day of fishing!
They tell us to exercise to keep our heart in shape; whose heart doesn't pound harder when that "big one" bites!
It is reaching our target heart rate equivalent to exercise every time! And the longer the fight with the fish, the more we are keeping our heart rate up! :D
And it is way less stress on our joints than jogging! ;)
And this has huge benefits on our mental health as well!
Can't get any better than that! So go fishing!!! 🎣 (and hunting!)

It is a healthy endeavour that will keep you both physically and mentally fit and well!

Some years ago I lived in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. My fishing partner was an independent owner-operator of a garbage pick-up business. One day I completed all my studies early and phoned him at his work. It was mid-day for him, and he was ready to take a break. He told the dispatcher that his doctor had phoned to recommend hydro-therapy at his lower Brunette office. Soon after I had waded into the Brunette River, rod in hand, there he was gearing up to join me. I didn't actually write a prescription, but he took it as such, and dispatch didn't question him.

That's a great story Doc!

I miss Larry. Together, we fished in every region of this great province, and hunted much of it. He died a tragic and agonizing death this past spring from septicemia resulting from a botched minor surgery. We did have many great days together on the waters of the province. That day he booked off work was just one of the stories this delightful man provided.
