Here is a link I found for an old guns magazine, you need to download the PDF file, which may take a bit, as it is 40MB, but it is a good read. I just opened the link and did a "save as" and saved it on my desktop to read it. By the sounds of it, Elmer liked the Mark V quite a bit, and actually seemed to be a big fan of the 200gr Nosler of his day. Scotty

Thanks Scotty,

I have always been a fan of Elmer Keith.
No surprise to his liking of the Mark V, Elmer liked the big Weatherby cases.

Heck Yeah, I have read it twice now. Between jd338 and Elmer, I decided everyone should have a 44

Reading the ads is worth the time required. Boy, do those bring back memories. Wow! Hard to believe prices were ever that low. However, wages were not so great either.

ELMER KEITH, BOB MILEK, JOHN WOOTERS, SKEETER, WHELEN, ACKLEY..........
why not a section devoted to those old timers, very good old reading.

Yeah, those were the golden years for the wild hunts. We still have many of then, and probably better, but you don't hear about folks going to Alaska or BC for a month to hunt everything! Scotty

MAYBE A LIL OUT OF POST, BUT THIS DAYS NOW YOU DONT FIND MUCH GOOD READING AS THE OLD DAYS, WHAT ABOUT A WHITETAIL HUNT FROM JOHN WOOTERS? BOB MILEK TESTING HIS GUNS, RICK JAMISON TESTING RIFLES, AND THOSE OLD TIMERS AS JACK O CONNOR, WHELEN, ACKLEY AND REMEMBER ME SOME MORE........
I WISH I HAD THOSE OLD SHOOTING AND HUNTING MAGAZINES.

Agreed. Not too crazy of any recent gun writer.

Me neither, about the only guy I really like to read much is Craig Boddington. He seems to be pretty close to a mix of OConnor and Keith with regards to his hunting. Plus, after having met him, he is a pretty nice guy, and he is a Marine! Scotty

Yes, I have a copy of that. Will have to agree with POP, not really crazy about any particular gun writer today. I sure miss some of the really good old writers.
