Experience with 7mm Mag and IMR4350?

I'm getting around to working up a load for my 7mm mag and have a ton of IMR4350 on hand. It seems to be my go to powder for everything. Anyone tried this combo? I also have a bunch of 139gr Interbonds to work with. Honestly, I probably won't shoot the rifle much, so if I can get a "minute of whitetail" load with this combo, I'll be happy. Thanks
Steve

I used IMR4350 under 160gr ABs for a number of years :) & still do. Now you should start lower & work up. Our load is 60.0grs and load is .5MOA for 2 different rifles. A CDL & Kreigle both have 26" tubes.
Sorry I have never loaded any 139grs.

Blessings,
Dan

IMR 4350 is my goto powder for all loads with 7mm mag. and up to 180 gr. in my .300 Win. Mag.
From past experience it works across a wide range of cartridges with excellent accuracy and few, if any, problems from environmental sensitivity.
When I started loading metallic rifle back in the early 70's IMR was about all we could get. It works just as good now as back then. I might be too old to change my ways.
I have a post from a few days ago with photos of some targets where I'm working up a load for a new bullet. All with IMR 4350.

I'm curious what kind of speed do you guys get with IMR 4350? I have some H 4350 as well that might work well too.

H generally gives slightly more speed than IMR...both are well known for accuracy...I've in used both in 30-06, H works better in my rifle.

4350 (H or IMR) is all Dad used in his 7 MAG for as long as can remember. Danged if I can remember how many grains. The old 130 grain speer boat tail was the bullet he settled on. Nothing ever got up once the 7Mag went off. I dont recall but I imagine that speer tore things up pretty good. But that was Dads theory. Its not very far from the hide to the heart of a deer. He wanted that bullet to come apart and do multiple damages. Kind of the reverse of today's thinking, but like I say, nothing ever got away. Come to think of it, he did say, "I dont load 'em as hot as I used too....just stretches the brass...." so I suspect it was less than Max. Good luck

Gerry, Right now I don't have access to a Chrono and when we moved 10 years ago somehow all my old loading notes for a lot calibers didn't make the trip. Really a loss in my opinion.
But, the best I can remember I was getting real close to published book velocities in several calibers. Most of those books were older manuals from Speer, Sierra and Hornady. Honestly, the Nosler data seems inflated to me when I compare it to some of the other data and I figure I'm getting at least 100 fps less.
I've tried a few other powders in both the 7mm and .300 but the best accuracy has came with IMR 4350.

gerry the 160 ABs are launching around 2950fps or a little better if I remember right. I do believe my cousin shooting RL-22 gets better velocity but not quite the same accuracy. I will look it up & let you know in a day or 2.

Blessings,
Dan

Wow, Thanks guys. I can't wait to give it a try. I got 100pcs of once fired Norma brass with it!

Nothing wrong at all with IMR 4350 in the 7mm RM by the looks of it.

63.5 grains Imr 4350 yeilded 5 shot one hole groups with 140 ballistic tips in my m70 at 100 yards. This was before the accubonds became available. I have since switched to 160 partitions and Rl-22 for all my big game hunting with almost the same accuracy.

My 7mm load is 60 grains of H-4350. With 160 Partition shoots insanely well. Elk and deer do not seem to care much for it..
