Looks like excellent performance from those BT's. Thanks for the report. I always enjoy seeing actual results. Here's a couple Ballistic Tips recovered from a good sized moose bull. Estimated around 1100-1200 live weight.
Shot out of 8x57 with 19" barrel. 180gr starting around 2630 fps.
One bullet found with core intact and the plastic tip. 139.5 gr = 77.5 percent weight retention.
The other found with core separation and some lead fragment. 145.5 gr = 80 percent weight retention.
I'd say they held up rather well for this type of bullet.
Seems like a great all around bullet for your 8x57 for anything from deer to moose. What do you estimate the impact velocity would have been? Here's a couple Ballistic Tips recovered from a good sized moose bull. Estimated around 1100-1200 live weight.

I had a 325 WSM and 3 8mm Rem mags. 2 were custom . 220 Sierras at 3100 fpsNice pictures. Good to see another 8mm fan. I have an 8mm Remington Magnum.
That'll workThat's great!
I have some of the 180's loaded in 325 WSM to test drive on whitetail in our upcoming season. I chrono'ed them at just over 2900 at the muzzle and shooting .65ish.

Good looking buck! His neck sure is swelled up already. The bullet did very well. If I ever see a guy carrying a bright orange rifle I'll come over and introduce myself. Like the looks of it.Here's another bullet recovered from the weekend. My brother in-law tagged out on a rutting mule buck. 200 yard shot. 8x57 using my hand loads 180gr Nosler ballistic tip at 2630ish fps out of a 19" barrel. Bullet hit the shoulder, entered the diaphragm and did a sharp turn, went through the paunch, and found on the offside hide right by the rear hip. Bullet weighed 134 grains, 74% weight retention.
